Since I started photography, I've always aimed to create creatures that can't exist outside my head. They are my monsters, my joys, my fears and worries. When I take a self-prortait, I never see myself as the model. I'm just a painter of a dream, of an idea.

When I put on my make-up, I am no longer Cristina, but
"the prisoner." () a "fire dancer." () or a "maniac."

People escape reality by reading, painting, or listening to music. I do it by taking self-portraits.
